Being a house of girls, minus Baba, we have lots of cute tops, dresses, skirts, shoes, accessories, handbags…
We just spent the day discovering the city’s big mall and neighboring strip malls on the way. What’s so cool is that my Mama, Aunties, and late Gramma got us all hooked into bargain shopping and stretching our dollars to get the best and most clothes possible.
Today was NO exception!
We got cheap skirts, tops, dresses, pants…everything on sale or clearance!
I have a HUGE walk-in closet in my new bedroom all to myself and I often work in there, play, or read inside. And, tonight I was on my laptop and when Mama came in to see what I was up to, as she took my laptop to check things out, I just laid out on the floor, totally relaxed (like when you’re staring up in the sky watching cool clouds pass us by on a sunny day) and I said “Mama. I Love skirts!…No, I LOVE My Skirts!”. Weird.
Mama replied, “Yeah–I know…half of them were are mine.”
See, we went shopping last week for the long-weekend sales, and we found out that I’m exactly the same size as her…but, that’s not a big accomplishment for a 10 year old when your Mama is size 0P!
She doesn’t care at all…because she wants all my sisters and I to get the height genes from Baba’s side. He’s 6’2″ and Mama is 5’2″. We always laugh back and say “we don’t want to be like Baba…but at least half-way between you both…after all we’re All Girls!” Mama’s typically response, “yeah..yeah…whatever”.
But, no. Really, none of my sisters and I want to be 6’2″! Would you!?
Anyways, back to cute tops and skirts:
I love having so many shirts because it makes one skirt into so many outfits. That’s another fashion (and Math) tip my mom taught my sisters and I so well.
“Always have more tops then bottoms.”
There IS a way to wear modest clothing and be fashionable too!
Funny stories: Mama *always* reminds us that she *hated/despised* shopping her entire life–until she had 3 girls. She even shared that she thought it was a chore when she shopped just with me, and then when GiGi arrived. But, when she had JoJo, all of a sudden shopping became SO much fun!
We always have a blast shopping with Mama–thankfully we only go to the mall only 2-4 times a year! Mama calls it our “Seasonal Sale Shopping Trip”.
Oh, and as for Baba–he NEVER goes shopping with us, but he’s always a Good Sport because he never misses out on our private Fashion Shows…that’s now GiGi’s and JoJo’s “thing”.
What’s hysterical (according to JoJo), is that he actually has the final say if we keep all the things we just bought–Baba has “fashion scenes” too, and is always looking out for our best interest–looking our best–and modest.
Please share your shopping highs and lows with your parents. Do you have a cool mom to shop with? Something about your dad? We’d love to hear about it!
Disclaimer: We are participating in a blogger campaign organized by Bucks2Blog. We’re excited to get paid to write this post with Mama so we can get even more cute tops & skirts and not bug Mama and Baba for the cash!
We’re not being forced to tell you only good things, because that wouldn’t be fair, and lying is NOT allowed.
